New Experiment: Never Ask Book Clubs

It’s one month since the launch of Never Ask for the Sale, and it has been a rewarding whirlwind.

So much has happened.

We hosted the first-ever “Break the Fast” Book Chat for my book and Brad Feld’s new book Give First.

I spoke at Colorado Startup Week, a 30-person intimate gathering sponsored by a good friend in Fort Collins, a packed house at Silicon Flatirons at the University of Colorado, and a vibrant YPO chapter in the Bay Area. What fun!

At the same time, we released two podcast eps I love featuring two leaders that exemplify tenets of Passionate Ambivalence in how they grow their companies and drive followership.

First, is Amit Shah from Virta Health. Amit speaks with a genuine passion for reversing diabetes through individualized nutrition, which shows up in his own style of “walk around town marketing.” Listen here.

Second, is EJ Meade, founder and CEO of renowned modern architecture firm Arch 11. EJ and I talk about the role of authentic relationships and the courage to pick the right clients in his craft. Find that episode here.

Both of these episodes carry the thread of Passionate Ambivalence. Two visionaries who seem to drive business growth through pure talent, conviction, and relational selling with their hearts at the center of the sale.

New Experiment: Never Ask Book Clubs, Grab Your Seat(s)

I decided to try running one-hour virtual book clubs for anyone who has a copy of the book. I’ll be facilitating these workshops, and we’ll be diving into real-life application of concepts like putting yourself at the center of the sale, building a compelling bio, and managing the sales and marketing funnel using passionate ambivalence.

I have three sessions set this fall. Attendance is free to anyone who has the book in hand, be it ebook, audiobook, or hardcover edition. See events and links to the three dates here.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to create your own book club with at least five people, just reach out and I’ll get you set up with some materials for you to drive your own thing!

One More Nifty Idea: Company Book Clubs

Last week I spoke at Guild, a workforce education and training company that works with some of the most well-respected companies in the world. I spent a few hours with the 50+ coaches that partner with learners on the Guild platform to help those people manage their educational programming and work toward their goals and highest potential.

The thread of that workshop was helping those coaches see that one thing they are doing even if they don’t charge a learner for every coaching session? Selling! Providing value to learners. Building longterm, sticky engagement.

If your sales team or any group inside your company (or your company!) wants to better understand how important it is to carry an authentic selling mindset in everything they do, let’s do a Company Book Club.

I’ll work with you to sort out focus areas, and we’ll develop one or more sessions covering aspects of Never Ask that work best at your company or for a given team.

That’s all folks. Thanks for being on the journey.
